- The Frangipani or Plumaria Rubra are all in riotous bloom.
- Opal bougainvilla over the entrance to Pasta Panteleo’s Art Gallery. At times, this soft pink-white color seems to glow. You have to see it to believe it.
- This multi-color Frangipani is one of our favorite.
- The Royal Poincianna has just burst into full bloom in the last week. This is the tree made famous by the paintings of the south Florida “Highwaymen”. These were several generations of black artists that taught each other to paint starting during the Great Depression. There are a few of their kids/relatives that still paint. The paintings they sold on the side of the road are now worth thousands.
- More bougainvilla color. Actually the color is produced by the leaves themselves and the flowers are small and white, what we might think are the stamens.
- Beautiful orange bougainvilla. The hybrids are numerous these days. The original color was either red or deep pink or both.
- Just had to add the incredible Jacaranda with it’s profusion of bright blue flowers
Islamorada is alive this spring with an incredible Tarpon run but also alive with a riot of beautiful colors. Please enjoy
